Bicycle Thieves is a Italian drama film which directed by Vittorio De Sica and published in 1948. This film is talking about a poor father, Antonio (Lamberto Maggiorani) who get stolen a bicycle when doing his work as delivering and putting up movie poster on wall, and he will lose his work when without a bicycle. This film is categorized as Italian Neorealism which known as cinema of poverty and pessimism. Below are my reviews about why Bicycle Thieves is under Italian Neorealism.

Italian Neorealism is a film that suggesting a new from Italian Cinema that abolishes contrived and planned plots, use real people ans locations so that direct contact is established with contemporary social reality. It lloed at plots as a structure of "everyday life", professionals actors which complimented falsehood in unconditional emphasis on the ordinariness of Today. Neorelism was known as a cinema of poverty and pessimism. It decline began in the fifties when the times were changing for the better. It is revolutionary and happened during a time os non-revolutionary transition towards prosperity and affluence, it is also unpopular in Italy, dependent of foreign appreciation and not economically profitable.

Bicycle Thieves is showing a story in post-war Italy, a working-class man lost his work due to the reason of his bicycle get stolen, his son decided to help him set out to find it.

Bicycle Thieves (1948) is talking about a "everyday life" for resident who works hard to survive by fighting for a job which is delivering and putting on the movie poster with their bicycle which matching to the Neorealism movement. It is referencing to contemporary national experience which is serious stealing problems in society on that time, people tends to steal others bicycle since it is important to daily life and also works. It also used the humanistic POV which is one of the characteristic of Neorealism in the scene of he chases the bicycle thief with someone's car, the POV is showing a very realistic perspective of a victim who tries to get back their things.
